Plaxico’s Troubles Continue

December 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

In a move that probably shouldn’t surprise anyone, the New York Giants have placed Plaxico Burress on the reserve/non-football injury list.

Translation: Season Over

The hero of last year’s upset win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, Burress is now riding the downslope of his rocket ride to stardom. His circus catch at the end of that game landed him on the fastrack to fame and forturne in the Game of Life. But now he may be going directly to Jail…without passing Go and collecting his $200(k).

For some reason, he thought it would be ok to carry a weapon (a Glock semiautomatic pistol) into the Latin Quarter nightclub in New York. He’s among the rich and famous now and we all know they live by a different set of rules than the rest of us. I guess it would have been fine if he hadn’t accidently shot himself with it!!! Plaxico makes his living with his running ability so shooting himself in the leg was career suicide. He’d have been better off grazing a temple.

This is Plaxico’s second spanking this season (that I’m aware of – I’m not really keeping track). He was suspended for missing a team meeting earlier in the season and as I mentioned in a previous post, the Giant Powers that be may be looking at him more as a liability than an asset and he may be wearing a different Jersey next season. That is if he’s not wearing prison garb.
