Pedroia’s New Contract

December 5th, 2008 · No Comments

For once, when I hear that a ballplayer will be making millions of dollars over the course of a few seasons after having signed a new contract, I’m not disgusted by the amount.

Having watched Dustin Pedroia play this season for (a paultry) $450,000 or so, I can honestly say I think he’ll be worth every penny he gets. Here was one of the few Sox players who did it in the field and at the plate.

Over the next 6 years (with club options), Pedroia will rake in a cool 40.5 million dollars. I’m not saying that’s not a lot of money but when you consider other big money players who haven’t produced or landed themselves on the injury list it’s a steal.

His fielding is flawless, he hits for average, on base percentage and has power. He packs it all in that little frame.

As for his dancing…

That’s an entirely different story. He should be paying us!
