would you really want C.C. Sabathia on your team?

Han Ram 4 MVP ‘08 asked:

As we all know the Yankees offered C.C. a long term $140 million dollar contract that would make C.C. the 2nd highest paid pitcher in baseball history. (2nd to Santana). Last week the Yankees took C.C. to the new stadium, the old stadium and around NYC. On Monday he met baseball greats like Reggie Jackson and and Whitey Ford. However, Sabathia has pretty much slapped them in face. He hasent responded to a deal that the Yankees offered 3 weeks ago and he has openly said he wants to pitch in Cali, and said “i want to be a Dodger”.

Now this all seems a bit odd to me for a number of reasons.

1. The Yankees are offering him more money than he will ever see anywhere else.
2. He claims he wants to pitch in Cali cuse he has a house there. Please i think he can build a new house somewhere else, his pockets surely arent hurting.
3. He dosent seem the slighest bit interested in playing for the Yankees or even Red Sox for that matter which means he dosent care about winning or a WS because they give him the best chance.

This guy is a joke. He wants to pitch in the weak NL West and avoid the postseason becuase hes afraid of the pressure. How else can you explain this and his 2008 postseason?

I wouldn’t because he only did so well because he was in the weaker National League, and he is a big guy who could seriously hurt himself very easily. Not worth $140 million, not worth $100 million, not worth much at all for that matter.

I agree with you 100% This yankee fan doesn’t want him.I’d rather have Sheet’s Burnett and Tex.I belive the yankees will make a big 145mil mistake if they sign this joker. The yankees are looking so pathetic begging him to come here. What has happend to our yankees? is it George’s son’s? is it Cashman?

You missed the point of what CC is saying-he does NOT like cold weather or a large urban area like NYC. He is listening to his family I’m sure. The pressure of pitching in NYC or Boston is beyond comprehension for us.
Salary- They are beyond ridiculous ! Obviously he isn’t greedy. He’s wanting what the market will bear, and pitch where he wants to pitch. Smart.

If this is the case then I say to hell with him . I feel the same way about Peavy . A true competitor wants to be challenged . Dont give me that ” i want to bat ” bullshit either ( Battings fun but we’re talking about another 40 mil here!). These scary *** dudes wanna stay in the NL cause they’re cowards . Not saying thats whats going on but if it is ( and its starting to seem that way ) then I have no respect for either of them .
