Yankees Two Bit Tickets

December 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Red Sox fans can get a chuckle this spring when their arch enemies, the New York Yankees sell tickets to a couple exhibition games against the Cubs in their brand new stadium, which is across the street from their old stadium by the way.

These will be the 2 bit tickets.

There, I said it.

In reality, the Yanks have donned the Christmas spirit and announced ticket prices for the 2 games will start at $0.25. That’s right 25 cents! That’s the price you’d have paid for a ticket back in 1923, assuming you were born then. And if you were and were old enough to attend a game 85 years ago, chances are you’re not reading this right now.

No matter, the Steinbrenner and the Bronx Bullies hearts are in the right place but no, they haven’t completely gone mad. The prices increase dramatically after that. Those same tickets will cost upwards of $2500 on opening day. Yes, with the exception of those first two exhibition games, gone are the days of the cheap seats.
