What are the standing room only sections at Fenway Park like?

Dan M asked:

My dad and I are diehard Sox fans, but we’ve lived in Chicago for the last 8 years. This summer, we’re moving back to Boston, so we wanted to see what tickets were available. It’s nearly impossible to get in without paying a ton of money or going standing room only. So is it worth it?

it depends their are different levels of SRO
First their is normal SRO you are standing behind the grandstand seats and it gets extreemly crowded behind home plate and along the basepath theirs only room to be 1 or 2 deep tickets cost $20.00

Next is Pavillion SRO their is 1st base side and 3rd base side. This is the highest level in fenway but its also the least crowded , short lines for food and bathroom great view. and people cant wander up to this area if your ticket isnt marked for the pavillion level you cant gain access tickets cost $25.00

Monster SRO. these are more of a novalty section the view is ok at best when in the sro area you loose a fair ammout of the outfield view. cost $25.00 same situation as pavillion if your ticket isnt for this arean you cant be up their

last is the right field roof deck SRO by far the worse place to stand you are almost 500 feet from home plate but if its the only option go for it price $25.00

Honestly if you want to go to a game tickets are always avable it just takes a lot of time calling the office over and over. The best bet is pavallion standing room cheep ticket and great view.

I caught a game in SRO last summer and it was a good time. We sat in some open seats until the bottom of the 5th when the real ticket holders finally showed up. It’s strongly frowned upon, but who buys soxs seats and misses half the game?
