Yankees in 2009?

September 4th, 2009 · 10 Comments

nysportsfan08 asked:

The Yankees are going to win the World Series in 2009 and here are the reasons why:
1. Mussina, Giambi, Pettite, and Pavano are going to be free agents which means they will have a lot of money to spend.
2. They make a lot of money from the all star game this year.
3. They sign C.C Sabathia, Mark Texeira, and Ben Sheets.
4. Re-sign Bobby Abreu
5. Farnsworth and Hawkins will be free agents so they’ll sign Brian Fuentes, Steve Kline or Brandon Lyon as a setup man.
5. It will be the first season at the New Yankee Stadium.
6. They trade Matsui to San Francisco for prospects.
7. Pitching rotation will be:
1.Sabathia
2.Sheets
3.Wang
4.Chamberlain
5.Hughes
8. Bullpen
Cl-Rivera
Su-Fuentes, Kilne, or Lyon
Rp-Olendorf
Rp- Kennedy
9. Lineup
1. Damon LF
2. Jeter SS
3.Abreu RF
4. A-Rod 3B
5. Teixeria1B
6. Posada C
7.Cano 2B
8.Melky CF
9.Shelly Duncan DH

Thats how they’ll win the world series next year and oh yeah they broke the curse because they dug up the shirt.

Nice analysis, even I a devoted Yankee fan, am worried every year since the Yanks always seem to have a flaw somewhere. This year looks pretty bleak but I’m still not giving up hope. Even though you drew up a nice plan, you must understand that not everything is going to happen. The Yankees may decide to bring back some veteran players. I doubt that the Yankees would sign both Sabathia and Sheets. Texiera is working on a long-term deal with the Braves. A lot has to happen.

    And what was your question?

  • 5 insane_blackhawks_fan // Sep 10, 2009 at 3:00 am

You got Joe Gerardi who was not resigned as a manager with his last team because he is a cancer and you still have the worst GM in baseball (200 million dollar payroll and no World Series) Cashman (However the hell you spell his name).

    The Yankees are years off.

Looks like a good plan to me, but don’t you mean that the Yankees will REPEAT in 2009? =)

As long as they get rid of Mike Mussina, I will be happy.

  • 9 Roxel // Sep 14, 2009 at 11:53 pm

Wow, I have heard that for the past 8 years and look what happened to them.

Listen I don’t believe any of that crap about the Yankees winning the World Series until they actual start showing that they are Championship material. They haven’t been showing that for the past 8 years.

not likely they will win the World Series, even if they get rid of all their dead weight (Giambi, Damon, Posada, Jeter and their whole pitching staff)
