Fenway originally seated 35,000 fans, making it one of the largest parks when it opened. In the days of less stringent fire laws, fans packed into the park, even standing in the outfield behind ropes. The largest crowd ever at Fenway was over 47,000 for a doubleheader against New York in 1935. Currently the park seats 36,108 for night games and 35,692 for day games.

How can I become a better soccer player and prepare for my high school’s try outs?

February 8th, 2010 · 5 Comments

Mary D asked:

Hi! I want to try out for my high school’s soccer team this spring. There are three teams–the freshmen team, JV, and Varsity. Because of my age, I would have to make the JV team to be able to play. In other words, I’m not a freshman. I have played soccer for 6 years, so I do have experience. However, I am very out of shape right now and my ball skills aren’t too fabulous. They never have been. My fortes are speed and aggressiveness. I am currently in a league playing for my parish, so I will be fully in shape by November, when we end. What can I do, starting now, to become a better player AND prepare myself for Spring tryouts? Also, what can I do over the winter to stay in shape?
When I say “become a better soccer player,” what I mean is, how can I improve my stamina, speed, and ball skills?

Thanks a bunch!

practice every day of the week when u dont have practice like ; Monday you can run sprints for speed for about a hour atleast on all of these, Tuesday two miles for endurance (works like a charm) Wedsday ball skills, and so on just do it to your scheduale switch it up and crank up the practices push your self as hard as you can, in the winter play indoor or join a gym if u have a indoor field in the gym its great trust me. You need to build your calves to get the explosion to run, work on your form when you run oppistie arm comes up with the leg left leg up right arm up learn forward on your start it gives u like a second extra to get a start.

    keep kicking.. ;-) no joke.

I play soccer for over 20 years… and the best thing you can do is keep kicking the ball.

Go to the park and do it like you are shooting with a shotgun or someting…make a target and try to hit it everytime.
Also, at the goal… try to focuse in one area of the goal and try to kick the ball right there everytime… make sure you change targets too.

Another thing is to run with the ball… making littke touches… run fast, change directions… try long passes… try ruuning and stop (with the ball).. also is very good to practice ball control. Keep tring to keep the ball in the air and fancy stuff. It really works.

Also, go to youtube.com and watch some videos in regards to soccer skills… try to put what you see in practice.

Ive even played professional for a bit. Im really good, but the main thing is keep practcing.

Hope my advice will help you. Thats the way I did it.. and thats probably why I had a big sucess playing the awesome game SOCCER!

    Best regards girl.

    RioGuy.
