T*** G***** over at *****.com seems to think that despite New England’s poor showing last Sunday, they still have a chance at a playoff spot this season.
I’m not sure what time of day T*** was writing that post but I hope it was after noon because it sounds as if he/she had a few too many.
Says Mr/Ms G*****:
They weren’t exposed as much as they were overwhelmed by the NFL’s most treacherous defense and victimized by enough self-inflicted wounds…
I agree with two parts of that quote - they were overwhelmed and on multiple occasions they shot themselves in the foot.
The beginning of the statement however is the part that leads me to believe ol’ T*** might have been dippin’ into the punch bowl. As important as this game was to the Pats, it wasn’t “do or die” but it did expose their vulnerabilities in the secondary, in Cassel’s inability to hit the short, wide pass and the offensive line’s shortcomings…namely to stop the outside pass rush.
New England has shown (me) on many occasions they can’t compete consistently. They seem to have an ebb and flow to their performances. For the past few weeks they looked as if they would pull out of the sputtering tailspin caused by losing Brady in game 1. But without the steady hand provided by the veterans now lost to the injury list, I’m afraid it’s goodnight Irene.
I have put my Patriot dreams back in the box to keep them safe for next season. They are still alive and well but I’m afraid that for the Pats ’tis not the season.
Disclaimer
You may have noticed all the *** replacing letters in the named people in the above post. I wanted to avoid any potential problems before anyone got their panties in a bunch about the drinking remarks. I know and you know that in no way do I think anyone was drinking and posting. It is off the cuff humor not intended to hurt anybody.
We have become a society of anal retentive nimwits ready to take offense and fire off lawsuits at the drop of a hat. We can’t make a small joke, or a slightly off-color remark for fear it will offend somebody. BS if you ask me. Having to add a disclaimer at the end of a post like this just takes away from the intended humor…so sad!
