Yankees Two Bit Tickets

December 24th, 2008 · Comments

Red Sox fans can get a chuckle this spring when their arch enemies, the New York Yankees sell tickets to a couple exhibition games against the Cubs in their brand new stadium, which is across the street from their old stadium by the way.
These will be the 2 bit tickets.
There, I said it.
In reality, the [...]

Redsox Promises

December 15th, 2008 · Comments

I’m sure I’ve said a few things in the past that I regret (or will at some future date)…a number of things come to mind.  We’ve all done it. Desperation drives a man to say things a rational person would never dream of.
As a member of Red Sox Nation, I’m sure I’ve made some long-forgotten [...]

Teixeira Coming To Boston?

December 11th, 2008 · Comments

I have to say I’m a little confused by the potential aquisition of Mark Teixeira. The Red Sox are apparently ready to dish out big bucks for the switch/power hitting first baseman.

My confusion comes when I think about Kevin Youkilis. He played a stellar first base this year and hit a ton to boot. I [...]

Pedroia’s New Contract

December 5th, 2008 · Comments

For once, when I hear that a ballplayer will be making millions of dollars over the course of a few seasons after having signed a new contract, I’m not disgusted by the amount.
Having watched Dustin Pedroia play this season for (a paultry) $450,000 or so, I can honestly say I think he’ll be worth every [...]

Varitek Rumors And The Reality

November 26th, 2008 · Comments

Now that Jason Varitek is a free agent waiting for offers from other teams, news agencies are hungrily waiting for something to report on.
WEEI.com, the Web site for the Red Sox’s flagship radio station is one. They have “heard” (cited sources) that the Sox offered Varitek a 1 year contract comparable to the Posada deal [...]

Coco For Ramirez

November 20th, 2008 · Comments

The Red Sox said good-bye to outfielder Coco Crisp yesterday in a trade for relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez.
Ramirez, a 27-year-old righty, was 3-2 in 2008 with a 2.64 ERA in 71 games. He struckout 70 in 71 2/3 innings. Boston desperately needs to bridge the gap between long relief and the ninth inning and Ramirez [...]

Pedroia and Youkilis Top 3 MVP

November 19th, 2008 · Comments

Watching them during the season, it was no surprise when Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis took 1st and 3rd in this year’s American League MVP Award voting.
It was also no surprise when, upon hearing the news each was happier for their teammate than themselves.
Dustin took a day off from his winter workout schedule (at the [...]

Red Sox Freeze Ticket Prices

November 13th, 2008 · Comments

In a move that can only be described as smart, the Red Sox announced they would not be raising ticket prices for the 2009 season.
Red Sox Tom Werner, Red Sox’s chairman:
“As stewards of this great franchise, John, Larry and I hold our positions as a kind of a public trust, and from that perspective, a [...]

Jon Lester 2008 Hutch Award Recipient

November 12th, 2008 · Comments

I was really happy to see that Jon Lester had won the 2008 Hutch Award.
The Hutch Award is given annually to a Major League player who best exemplifies the honor, courage and dedication of baseball great Fred Hutchinson, both on and off the field.
Back in August 2006, the Tacoma Washington native had to be [...]

Do Or Die For The Rays

October 29th, 2008 · Comments

For the most part, when the Rays played the Sox, they looked like a team that would go all the way. At times they made the Boston Boys look like an inferior team. With the exception of a couple key errors they were running (and hitting) on all cylinders and took advantage of Boston’s inability [...]
